Defra update on the avian influenza situation in Europe

The current risk level for the UK is low but Defra expects this to rise by the end of October / November and will keep it under close review.

Avian Influenza Core Group
A place is reserved on the Avian Influenza Core Group for a member of the BVPA presidential team. At Core Group meetings, updates are given on the Avian Influenza (AI) situation across the world and the risk to the UK is subsequently discussed.
In the event of an AI outbreak occurring in the UK regular updates are provided at Core Group meetings.
Furthermore, if matters such as housing orders are discussed, BVPA’s position will be based on the evidence available.
